Law and Order

There has been an amazing change on this TV show. No, it wasn't losing Jerry Orbach or Dennis Farina.  It seems to be more realistic and sensible. It was predictably liberal with European heritage males being most of the bad guys and their bias being right off the moveon.org website. At least it seemed that way to me. A good example was their handling of the Terry Schiavo tragedy. In their version the husband, the bad guy in real life, gets blown up by an overzealous Christian. This year, in last night's episode, the terrorists were--you guessed it--Muslims. They were the bad guys. The hero was an Imam but I'm OK with that because in real life that is what is needed to help calm things down.  The cynic in me says that ratings are making the change, after all the show was moved to Friday night. The politician in me says that Fred Thompson, the ex GOP senator and long time cast member is finally being heard. He has been the sensible one all along. He was the one chosen by George Bush to introduce John Roberts around the Senate during his confirmation hearings. And Christ in me prays that Dick Wolf the producer has seen the "Light" of the World. Let's hope it's not just a 3 episode change.
