For the first time in history the same person has won these 2 prestigious awards in the same year. I hear that he is also a candidate for the Wooden Award and the Lady Byng Trophy. Once you start getting awards you don't deserve(Strictly because of politics), where does it stop? Can a Pulitzer or even Miss Teen America be ruled out? I don't think so. At least not as long a liberals make the selection strictly on the basis of BDS( Bush Derangement Syndrome). Now that documentaries don't have to be true--thank you Michael Moore--Al gets an Oscar. So apparently you don't have to promote peace to get the Nobel Peace Prize. Now granted it's not as bad as when Jimmy Carter, or Yasser Arafat or especially Kofi Annan won it. And let's look at the bright side. When Osama Bin Laden gets his and Mahmoud Amadinijead gets his, Al's will only be the 6th worst selection in history. And Bill Clinton will move him down to 7th. So what am I worried about? To me it is about fairness. I assume the Nobel people want to be taken seriously. So why do they ignore real peace and freedom promoters? Those such as the Burmese Monks resisting tyranny or others outlined in Wall Street Journal Editorial found
at http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010732. That's the real tragedy of these political selections. The deserving who could help the world achieve peace are discounted by these award givers. How many people have died because of Yasser Arafat, Kofi Annan, and Jimmy Carter? Countless because of their cowardice and greed.
Many are worthy of the award but Al Gore is particularly unworthy. Well, unworthy, unless the award was meant as the Nobel Weather Forecasting Prize. Your local Channel 7 guy can't tell you accurately what happened yesterday and yet Al Gore can tell you what it will be like 100 years from now. That is talent. Hyperbole and sophistry sure, but talent. Actually, I think it is pretty obvious that Al Gore doesn't believe what he preaches. He has been on this weather beat for 15+ years now but when did he change his lifestyle? Only when he got caught with a carbon footprint bigger than John Edwards or John Kerry's. Even bigger than Teddy Kennedy's liquor cabinet. Wouldn't a true believer try to set a good example earlier? Wasn't it Jeff Goldblum--a Hollywood knucklehead--who took this seriously a decade ago? Now Al Gore has changed a few lightbulbs, put up some solar panels, and bought a Prius for when he is not being driven around in a Limo or in a private jet. George Bush has had solar panels for years. Maybe he should get the Nobel Weather Forecasting Prize. Any way the core of Gore's solution--at least for rich people who build the biggest house in North Carolina or own 7 houses, multiple SUVs(actually Kerry's family owned them?) and a huge yacht and private plane is carbon credits which coincidentally come from a company he is affiliated with. Fortunately I can afford carbon credits so I'm with Gore on those. All you middle class and poor people will just have to freeze in the dark. Al and I will be OK. And Al will be richer from these credits. And the other reason I doubt Al's sincerity is the exaggeration in the movie. True believers would be able to present an honest case. Recently a British court accepted the claim that the major points in Al's movie are "Inconvenient Lies". A suit should be filed here so that a balanced discussion will be required in our high schools. We don't want to graduate brainwashed dummies do we? For just causes the facts are persuasive. But the truth is the science is not settled. And more and more scientists are coming forward each day to debunk Gore's message. No one knows the extent of man's contribution to the current warming cycle. But these cycles have been going on for thousands of years. The earth has survived before and we will survive this. But won't liberals be embarrassed when the cause reverts back to global cooling in the next 5 years as it was in the 1970's. They won't apologize because this cause is designed to bring them money and attention and power. At least in Al Gore's case it is working. Shame on him!
PS. While here I want to assure you that I think Al's Nobel will fall out of the top ten all time worsts as soon as Castro and Chavez and Kim Jong Il and, if they change the rules about still being alive, Che gets his.
PSS. Who do I think should get the Nobel Peace Prize this year? The Iraquis who stood up for freedom and voted and are resisting evil and the American Soldiers who are making it possible. May God Bless America as it works for Freedom and Peace.
